Bed Bugs
Note: Current information on the bed bug product solution can be found at Bedbugectomy.com.
I’m currently working on an advanced prototype design and a patent application for a bed bug control product.
The short story is this: My housemate recently imported bed bugs into my home; we discovered them in early May of 2010. They had clearly been around for awhile; I observed a significant infestation. Our best guess is they were hitchhiking inside some newly acquired, used books. How they got here is relatively unimportant, but it’s important to note that reading material appears to be a favored destination for hanging out near a bed and, by extension, an effective means for moving on to new feeding grounds.
The bad news was this: When I started investigating the critters it became immediately and consistently obvious that nothing in the marketplace is effective at getting rid of them.
The result is this: Since necessity paid me this visit, I invited the mother of invention for a hookup and we now have an offspring. The product idea became a rough prototype in early June. By early July the bed bugs were completely under control and we were able to restore her room to a normal condition along with the addition of a new – also rough – prototype designed to eradicate any stragglers. Last week, now early August, I did a complete inspection of everything to evaluate the performance of the products. What I found is that the bed bugs have been completely neutralized.
The future is this: As noted earlier, I’m working on advanced prototype versions of the products. I expect to submit patents as soon as the bugs are worked out. Once the patents are filed and the prototypes are suitable for public viewing, I’ll post up a website.

Performance Automobile Technology
This project is very cool. This is a webmercial I did for an earlier version of an Evans Automobile:
NOTE: The current site is Carma Racing. In the world that is “web”, Evanscars.com is not currently a functional site.
I’m designing the seating and some specialized areas in the cockpit. In addition, I’m styling major component areas on the body shell. We’re currently building the full-size clay model of the car that will be the form for the body mold.
My background is in Industrial Design; I worked on aircraft interiors and interior structures for years. For this project, the primary structural product I’m working on is the seating. I have developed a new, energy isolating seating environment that effectively secures the driver like precious cargo while, at the same time, allows for more freedom of movement and less “snugness”.
The prototype version of a seat will be complete in the spring of 2010. The incomplete version has been undergoing field testing in my Miata for the past few months.
In addition to the performance car market, a variation of the design will be developed for the commercial aircraft industry. Given my current experience with the prototype seat and prior work overseeing destructive testing of commercial aircraft seats, my expectation is that this new seat design will be stronger, more crash resistant, lighter and easier to maintain than the standard aircraft seating in service today.

Greening Rig
Earth ecosystems naturally and constantly produce local versions of biospheres. Generally, these local units have a short existence because they often lack a sustainable organization of matter and energy potentials. Greening Rig is based on the idea that the local units are characterized by specific and distinguishable traits that can be coordinated to exploit Earth’s natural local system attributes - leading to the production of geothermal energy.

The Greening Rig is based on an idea that measured feeding of biomass matter and energy into a wetlands environment will enable local management of beneficial, naturally occurring, local systems. The concept is not dissimilar to farm management practices; but, instead of growing crops, the results are clean water, carbon balanced earth and thermodynamic energy.
The illustration is a concept application for installation in a wetlands or water treatment location. I’m working on a much smaller unit suitable for installation on virtually any urban or suburban property.
